Florida VPK

Here at Lake Asbury Learning Center we have an integrated approach to teaching our four year olds the skills necessary to be successful in Kindergarten. Our play daycare's based program incorporates both child initiated and teacher directed activities in a developmentally appropriate setting that allows each child to learn and explore. Our teachers are very familiar with the State of Florida standards and we adapt our teaching to the standards based on the needs of the students. We administer a state assessment at the beginning of our program, and again in January to monitor growth and see where we can fine tune teaching. We administer a final assessment at the end of the program. These final scores are a good indication of how well children will do once in Kindergarten.

Mona Vega - Director

Hello all. I’m Mona, the center director of Lake Asbury Learning Center. I am happily married and mother of twin girls. I am a plant and cat mama who loves to spend her free time reading. I have been in childcare for 12+ years. I started as a toddler teacher and gradually worked my way up. I have a national childcare associate credential, along with my dcf 45 training hours, I am cpr and first aid certified. I am currently in school to obtain a bachelor's degree in early childhood education.

Emily Reyes - Assistant Director

Hi, I’m Emily, the Assistant Director here at our childcare center. With over 8 years of experience in the childcare field, I am dedicated to creating a nurturing and enriching environment for every child. I’m currently working towards my bachelor’s degree in education, continuing my passion for helping young minds grow and flourish. As a mother of three, I understand firsthand the joys and challenges of parenthood, and I strive to support families in any way I can. In my free time, you can find me baking sweet treats, tending to my garden, or enjoying fun games with my kids. I’m excited to be a part of your child’s journey here and look forward to getting to know your family!

Our daughter has been going here for about a year now and she has absolutely loved it. We've had nothing but great experiences with all her teachers and the administration and we've greatly appreciated the various events they have on a monthly basis.

My four year old goes to LALC for VPK and she absolutely loves it. I was extremely nervous at first because she has never been in any sort of organized setting for childcare until now. But she absolutely loves her teachers Ms. Lori and Ms. Mya as well as the other VPK teacher Ms. Robin. Its truly amazing how much she learns at VPK even in just 3 hours a day.

As a first time mom, I was nervous about putting my 9 month old in daycare. Almost a year later, I am SO thankful we decided to enroll him at LALC. The staff is incredible. This center is amazing. The staff truly cares for the kids and goes above and beyond to provide the best care while having fun too. Mrs. Mona is one of my favorite teachers there and my daughter loves seeing her. This is a great place hand's down.

I truly appreciate the welcoming, learning and fun atmosphere of Lake Asbury Learning center for my 2 year old daughter. She has been doing amazing there socially.
